akazi is the Chichewa word for women

and that's the heart & soul of our project.

Founded in 2017 by Megan and Hunter, Akazi is a social enterprise that was formed from the necessity of seeing a public health emergency and needing to make a swift impact in Malawi, Africa. Each piece of jewelry is handcrafted in San Diego, CA. We craft our jewelry with 14/24k gold filled findings that you can wear for years with pride. All profits (yes, we do mean all) go straight to our women’s health clinic in Mzuzu, Malawi. By choosing to invest in this clinic we are able to directly help the community we serve by creating systemic and generational change for women.

For just under $5, each piece of jewelry effectively provides a woman with a cervical cancer screening and treatment if she needs it. With that jewelry that you wear and share, we are able to provide this service free of charge. The purchase of each piece of jewelry is a way to pay it forward to a woman you may never meet, but have a long term impact on. Our clinic, The Akazi Cooperative, is partnered with local NGOs where we encourage growth, education, and are able to provide both financial stability to our clinicians.

Most importantly, you help us provide the freedom for women to make health decisions for themselves. We are fully invested in created a cervical cancer free Malawi, and we’re happy to have you join us.
